About Us

Dave and Josh met in 2007 on the softball fields of Braddock Park in Fairfax, Virginia. At the time, Dave was the controller of a successful government contractor and Josh was helping manage his family’s small business. While becoming good friends traveling up and down the east coast playing softball, the guys never knew they shared the same love of accounting.

​It was not until Josh went back to school in 2009 to obtain his bachelors’ degree in accounting that the two discussed their shared passion. That eventually led to the guys teaming up for the first time in 2012 when Dave hired Josh to work for his Liberty Tax franchise in 2012. After the 2012 tax season, the two parted ways briefly as Josh pursued a career in public accounting (and his CPA license) while Dave became the CFO of an upstart aerospace company based in California.

​It all came full circle in 2014 when the two met again on the very same softball field where it all started and Dave asked Josh to come work for him at the aerospace company. That ultimately led to the formation of our firm (originally Red Ledger Accounting and Tax, LLC) in 2015 where the diverse skill sets of both partners are combined to serve the tax and accounting needs of the businesses and individuals of Northern Virginia and Greenville, South Carolina.

In 2018, we added a new Partner to our firm, Isaac Johnson.  Isaac is a talented CPA who brought his experience in financial reporting and tax to our firm. He started his career in public accounting at a regional firm in Fairfax, Virginia before joining us. His specialties include financial statement services as well as tax planning and compliance for individuals and businesses. Isaac earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.
